The Papatoetoe Panthers Pumas Under-12 teams had a fantastic rugby league season in 2025 and Wiri Licencing Trust was thrilled to support their recent end-of-year prizegiving.
A grant from the Wiri Community Impact Fund covered the cost of food for the function held at our Woodside Restaurant and Bar venue, and funded trophies to celebrate the players’ success across the season.
Spokesperson Maria Tapu says the young women in the teams had an amazing experience and the sponsorship from the Trust made the event very memorable. All were chaperoned by parents and caregivers, some of whom shed a few tears as they proudly watched their whānau honoured for their on and off-field achievements.
“The Woodside staff were truly impressive, and we can’t stop talking about them and how they made everyone feel welcome.”
Wiri Licensing Trust General Manager Kim Green says the Community Impact Fund was set up to support local organisations, who can apply for a grant of up to $500 a month to put towards strengthening our community.
“We love being able to get behind the organisations and groups doing amazing mahi in our neighbourhood. It’s great to support initiatives that encourage our young people to stay active and become involved in our local sports clubs.”
