The new Wiri Licensing Trust Board has met for the first time and is energised and ready to get on with delivering for the community over the coming term.
Following the recent Auckland local body elections, returning Trustees Daniel Newman, Rangi McLean, Glenn Murphy and Brian Blake are joined by new Trustees Matt Winiata and Heather Andrew.
Brian Blake has again been chosen as Board Chair.
“Following a successful campaign and comprehensive victory for the Manurewa Action Team, we are now fully focused on the important work ahead,” Brian says. “One of the great privileges we enjoy as those elected to serve is the opportunity to work alongside everyone doing the mahi in our community.”
One project the Trustees are deeply committed to is the development of a multi-sport centre at Manurewa War Memorial Park — a long-awaited facility that will provide modern spaces for multiple sporting codes.
“After so many years of talk, it’s finally time to walk the walk,” Brian says.
He adds that the Trustees will face crucial decisions about the Trust’s long-term direction as they build a clearer understanding of how the community wants the organisation to be positioned over the next decade and the best way to secure that future.
“The Trust exists to serve and strengthen our community, and we are dedicated to continuing that stewardship well into the future.
“Finally, on behalf of all the Trustees, I want to say thank you. We take the privilege of service seriously and are deeply grateful for the encouragement and support that allow us to keep serving our community.”
