Jammies for June ramps up in South Auckland

We’ve been blown away by the incredible response to this year’s Jammies for June campaign. It’s inspiring to see so many people getting behind this simple but powerful initiative to help keep kids warm this winter.

“We feel so fortunate to be in a position to spread awareness of Jammies for June in South Auckland and beyond,” says Wiri Licensing Trust General Manager Kim Green. “It’s heart-warming to see people want to learn more and support others in need – and we’re grateful for every donation, big or small.”

The Middlemore Foundation’s annual campaign aims to provide 20,000 children with a new pair of pyjamas and reduce the number of tamariki who are admitted to Kidz First Hospital with respiratory illnesses this winter.

One of the latest groups to come on board is Manurewa AFC. After hearing about the campaign, the football club quickly rallied to support the cause. If you’re heading along to the MAFC Clubrooms on a Saturday between 9am and midday, you can now drop off a pair of pyjamas while you’re there. Or get in touch with Kellie on seniors@manurewaafc.onmicrosoft.com to make other arrangements.

There’s still time to join the fun and make a difference:

  • Don’t forget the PJ Party at Woodside Bar and Restaurant on Friday, 27 June. Entry is either a gold coin or a pair of children’s pyjamas. There’ll be winter warmers available from the bar and a prize for the best PJ outfit on the night.
  • Swap PJs for a kid’s meal – Bring in a new pair of children’s pyjamas to Woodside and receive a child’s meal in return – offer available until the end of June.
  • Drop your PJ donations to Wiri Trust House, 3 Ronwood Avenue, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 12 noon.

Every pair of warm pyjamas collected goes directly to children in need through the Middlemore Foundation. For more about the campaign and who it supports, visit jammiesforjune.org.nz.

Let’s keep the momentum going and wrap even more tamariki in warmth this winter.
