Got a great idea for South Auckland? Need new equipment for your sports club, a little extra help to get a grassroots initiative off the ground, or a sponsor for an event?
Wiri Licensing Trust wants to hear from groups and people working to make South Auckland a better place to live, work and play.
We’re particularly interested in initiatives that get tamariki and rangatahi involved in sport, create and maintain safe spaces, celebrate the arts, cultures and stories of our diverse population, and improve the wellbeing of local people.
There are three main ways we may be able to support you.
Gaming machine grants
Each year, gaming proceeds generated from machines in our hospitality venues are returned to the community through grants made by Trillian Trust, our selected gaming society partner.
Wiri Licensing Trust trustees make monthly recommendations to Trillian Trust about the distribution of gaming proceeds generated within our catchment.
These grants can provide substantial funding towards eligible projects and costs. In recent years, we have supported applications for everything from sports facilities and equipment to projects improving animal welfare and community safety.

Wiri Community Impact Fund
Sometimes it doesn’t take a large grant to get a good idea moving.
The Wiri Community Impact Fund provides donations of up to $500 for smaller, everyday needs and grassroots initiatives. Funding comes from the operational profit of our flagship hospitality venue, Woodside Bar, Dining and Functions.
The fund is deliberately simple and flexible. You don’t need to be an incorporated society or registered charity to apply – individuals, informal groups and neighbourhood initiatives are welcome too.
If a relatively small amount of money could remove a barrier or help turn your idea into action, this could be the fund for you.
Sponsorship
Wiri Licensing Trust and Woodside Bar, Dining and Functions also sponsor selected local groups, activities and events.
Our sponsorships range from backing major events that reach thousands of South Aucklanders to providing practical support for local sports clubs and their volunteers.
We’re particularly interested in sponsorship opportunities that encourage participation and inclusion, recognise and support volunteers, reach and benefit local people, and align with Wiri Licensing Trust’s priorities.
